Yeshivas Bais Yisroel, colloquially known as "Bais", is an English-language, Litvish Haredi yeshiva for post-high-school boys located in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem, Israel. Founded in 1986 by Rabbi Doniel Lehrfeld, the yeshiva's student body currently numbers over 200 students,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title= Yeshiva Beis Yisroel )〕 mainly from the United States, Canada, and England. The yeshiva also operates a kollel for 6 married men, many of whom attended the yeshiva before marriage. ==Background== Bais Yisroel is part of the widespread trend, over the past three decades, of yeshiva learning programs in Israel for post-high-school boys from the United States and other English-speaking countries. Thirty years ago, there were only a handful of such programs for overseas students at the Mir, Brisk yeshiva, and Ponovezh. Today, there are dozens of such yeshivas. Bais Yisroel was founded in 1986 in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Bayit Vegan as an offshoot of Yeshiva Toras Moshe. In 1994 the yeshiva moved from that location to its current location in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Neve Yaakov. The students sleep in dormitories which consist of converted apartments located near the yeshiva. The yeshiva owns and rents more than 10 such apartments yearly.
